Ride For Heroes Great Ride. Great Cause.

Why We Do What We Do

The Ride for Heroes Inc. supports those individuals who unselfishly volunteer their time and talents to make East Parker County a better place to live. The Moritz Chevrolet Ride for Heroes is a bike ride held each year benefiting the Aledo, Hudson Oaks and Willow Park Fire Departments. This year we will also be including the volunteers of the Parker County Sherriff’s Reserve and the Campbell Emergency Response Team. The Ride for Heroes helps support various student clubs from Aledo High School as well. And as always we also support the Texas Bicycle Coalition working for safer cycling in Texas.

2007 Wrap-Up

A wild night of bad weather made for a very sloppy set-up at the Aledo High School Stadium. Ride Director, Gordon Robertson, had spent days setting up signs and creating new signs to make sure riders knew where to go. Now, the wind and rain was hitting everything sideways at a very high velocity. Flooding didn’t make it any easier. Yet, pre-registered riders, were hoping everything would calm down as it had in years past. Packet pick-up was brisk and Registration Director, Virginia Robertson assured everyone that Parker County would be clear by ride time.

And, guess what! It was. What a fabulous day it was! Gratefully, we had 1300 riders register to ride that day with only a few missing out on the fun (50 riders did not show). Aledo Volunteer Firemen started the bar-b-que grillers up and the ride was on target. We had a few signs get washed out and there were a few puddles along the way, but in the long run, it was great. Between sponsorship and registration fees, The Ride for Heroes was able to award $50,000 to the volunteer fire departments of three cities plus the Parker County Sheriff’s Reserve and other charitable organizations
